The design brief from Alexander Stegmayr was clear with regards to neck slimness and playability in addition to accessibility of the 24th fret. The entire neck/bridge package was shifted forward in relation to the body to accommodate this. Due to the relatively heavy magnetic pickups, the balance of the instrument is good despite this. The weight still lands at only 2,700 grams including battery. The neck is merely 18 mm thick at the 1st and 20 mm at the 12th, reinforced with 8 plys of carbon fiber for extra stability, and the fretboard is scalloped from the 12th fret. This is the first guitar equipped with a Graphtech Ghost system coupled with the Graphtech Acoustiphonic preamp, and has individual volume controls for the magnetic and piezo pickups. The sounds of each blend beautifully to provide a very rich spectrum of tones. Black Limba has amazing clarity and resonance, and with the Wenge top embellished with a traditional f-hole, it brings traditional bowed instruments to mind but with blue hardware and two Lundgren M8 pickups, it has a very contemporary touch.
