Once your V-AMP/V-AMP 2/V-AMP PRO/V-AMPIRE/BASS V-AMP/BASS V-AMP PRO/BASS V-AMPIRE
has been connected properly, the setup window offers status information on your
V-AMP model. Needless to say, all entries can be changed manually. You could,
for example, select a different MIDI channel and in/out ports respectively or
change the name given. When a name has been entered, it will be displayed in the
left upper corners of both editor window and device
window. The name you specify can be stored on all V-AMP models that feature
software version 2.0 or higher. Since it is stored internally you can always identify
your own unit, wherever you use it. However, version 1 of the V-AMP firmware does
not support this function.
If you add the V-AMP model manually to your Setup you need to make sure that the Device ID (as indicated in the parameter box) corresponds to the MIDI channel (Setup A on your V?AMP).
Allows to select between up to 6 different output configurations:

This control determines the high-frequency range of the "Live" operating modes.
Whenever you select a V-AMP PRO or BASS V-AMP PRO model a drop down menu for the digital outputs pops up. The dropdown contains 4 entries each for AES/EBU or S/PDIF output formats. The selected entry shows at which sample rate the digital output data stream is provided or if the device synchronizes to an external clock master, which is connected to the wordclock input. The selection of these sample rates or output formats does not affect the analog signal processing, but only the digital output data stream.

With the help of the device window you can determine various user preferences.
For that purpose, simply select "Set" under "Preferences".
(Please view screen shot 4!)
This function allows you to, for example, determine if time values are measured
(and displayed) in milliseconds (ms) or in beats per minute (BPM). You can also
select from three knob modes. These modes determine the way in which a control
knob reacts to mouse movements.
Your personal settings can be stored as follows: simply enter your "Preference Name" (here: "Personal") and confirm with "OK". Consequently, a user preference can easily be erased with the help of the delete button. This has to be confirmed with "OK", too.
As long as "Show Confirmations" is activated, certain V-AMP Design processes will result in dialog windows which require confirmation/cancellation. If you are absolutely sure what you are doing, this function can be deactivated by removing the relevant tick. Consequently, V-AMP Design wont bother you with questions, i.e. when you are swapping or replacing presets.
"Auto Audition" enables you to audition any preset of the device window whenever the preset is selected. When, however, this function is deactivated, you can hear a preset after double clicking it, which will open the editor window automatically. Another way to open the editor window use the right mouse button menu.
The device window allows you to (re)name presets: For that purpose, simply click the respective preset name twice (with an interval of approx. one second), or use the right mouse button menu in order to enter a name of your choice (16 characters at the most)
Swapping two presets is possible, too: Let's assume you want preset A of bank 1 to move to preset B of the same bank and vice versa: simply move preset A to the B position via drag and drop. If "Show Confirmations" is active, please confirm "Swap presets?" with "OK".
Each preset can have its own name up to 16 letters long. This name can be stored
on your
V-AMP and in the libraries.
The V-AMP contains 125 (25 x 5) presets. All 125 presets are grouped to a single MIDI bank, which enables V-AMP Design to request them without any bank changes.
V-AMP Design can request an individual preset or all 125 presets regardless of the V-AMP being in MIDI Setup Mode or not.
To transmit presets that have been edited and to store them on your V-AMP (i.e. reloading a complete dump), it is nessecary that the V-AMP is in MIDI Setup Mode. However, a single preset can be transmitted and stored without the V-AMP being in MIDI Setup Mode.
(Please view screen shot 6!)
Clicking "Store" offers a memory location for storing the current preset settings
onto any location of your V-AMP. The "Store to V-AMP ..." window allows you
to specify the memory location regarding target preset and bank information
respectively. Afterwards, please click the uppermost button which automatically
displays the corresponding preset name.
Of course, you can also append the current preset settings to the currently active library. This enables you to retain the original preset settings.
(Please view screen shot 7!)
A preset can be taken from the device window and appended to the library via
drag and drop. If "Append presets?" should appear, please confirm with "OK".
(Please view screen shot 8!)
Basically, the librarian window keeps you informed on all presets that have
been appended to the library. Preset information (such as date, device ID, bank,
etc.) is given automatically. The entries "Preset-name", "Comment" and "Created
by", however, have to be filled out manually by clicking the relevant area once
(for example "Comment"). Double clicking a preset name in the librarian window
will open the editor window [link to 6] automatically.
(Please view screen shot 9!)
In order to save your personal library onto your computer please click the
common "Save" button of the librarian window [link to 5]. "Save library to file ..." allows
you to save the library to a folder of your choice on your hard disk.
You can print out the active library's preset list using the printer icon above.
Use this dropdown menuto switch over from one effect assignment to another. After selecting an effect, the corresponding LED of the EFFECTS rotary control on your V-AMP will light up. Based on your choice made via Control assignment, the V-AMP will give access to the respective effects parameters. Please consider, the effects assignment does not change the sound(1), and is only used to determine how the settings you made via MIDI will be displayed on the device(1).
(1) Neverthless, the V-AMP 2 firmware versions beginning with 2.0.71 misinterpret the control assignment as effects change. From version 2.2.2 on this bug is fixed.
Use the dropdown menu to select the desired delay program. Thus, you can select between
The compressor controls the signal dynamics between the stompbox and the amp simulation block. It can be used at any time in addition to all other simulations or effects.
